Combat the Camps: Act Locally on Immigration – Meeting Aug. 27
Over the past weeks, local events such as Close the Camps and Lights for Liberty have provided opportunities to raise our voices against injustice and to show support for immigrants, including asylum seekers. Now, what else can we do to help people who are facing insurmountable obstacles, and often very dangerous situations, as they seek entry to the U.S. only to be detained and separated from their families?
On Tuesday, August 27th from 6:30 – 8:00 PM, Indivisible Sherman will host a meeting at Grace United Methodist Church in Sherman to begin working on a new immigration project: Combat the Camps. Please plan to attend and consider how you might become involved. Committees under consideration include: Outreach, Research, Volunteer Activities, and Liaisons to Elected Officials. Committee chairs will form a Board of Directors to lead the effort. Plans also include having experts attend our meetings to provide information and offer guidance as we move forward. Future meetings will also take place at Red River Unitarian Universalist Church in Denison.
