This is the season for giving, even more so than the rest of the year. How can we as Democrats give to our community? This year we want to help feed those in need in Grayson County. We searched for ways we can help and found an organization that need us.
Grand Central Sherman Soup Kitchen, otherwise known as The Dining Car provides hot, nutritious meals for anyone in need, serving the homeless and indigent population of Sherman, Denison and Greater Texoma. More info on the organization can be found at http://grandcentralsherman.com/. They are located at 110 Throckmorton in Sherman.
What we found to be important is the need for cash donations as opposed to canned goods. Most of their food is donated or purchased through North Texas Food Bank in Dallas and a cash donation enables them to purchase items at a greatly reduced cost.
Please join us this month at our November 30 meeting after celebrating Thanksgiving with your family and friends, to help those in our area in need. We would like to make a substantial cash donation to The Dining Car after that meeting. A generous donor has offered to match up to $250, so please come to the meeting with cash or a check. Donations of any amount you can afford will be greatly appreciated. If donating by check, please make the check out to Grand Central Sherman Soup Kitchen.
