May 2014. Would you have guessed the U.S. Senate would hold its first vote so soon on a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United and McCutcheon?
For anyone who thought a constitutional amendment is too high a bar or who thought We the People today are not as powerful as the American citizens who won the previous 27 amendments, the time for doubt is over.
The U.S. Senate will be voting on a constitutional amendment this year.
Use this handy page to see where your senators stand. If you have a senator who has not yet supported an amendment, send an email urging him or her to do so. If you have a senator who is already on board, send a thank-you email and encourage him or her to reach across the aisle for support from colleagues.
Our work won’t stop with this first vote in the Senate. We still have a movement to continue growing, many states and cities to get on board, and many members of both parties to win over.
But this upcoming vote indicates the undeniable progress we’re making.
We are moving forward, and we will not take one step back.
Thanks for all you do.
