I attended a very interesting debate in Van Alstyne, TX last month – between Virginia Hughes and her opponent, Trent Bass, for the office of Grayson County Treasurer. Mrs. Hughes by all reports is a highly detailed & organized & has held this position for the past 13 years without complaint or reprimands on her record.
Mr. Bass, a stockbroker, seemed to be a nice enough young man, but I was shocked when Mr. Bass, said if he was elected he would continue to do his job as a stockbroker. I find this disturbing on several levels. Remember, it was Wall St. that snookered us with nice charts and graphs & then stole from our nest eggs & helped sink our economy.
Mrs. Hughes intelligence experience, ability to network is only enhanced because she has not & has no plans for working with Wall Street. We should attend these types of local debates; they will make us more informed.
