Petition Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to confirm all judicial nominees during the lame duck session. Click here to sign.
Republicans are going to have a clear majority in the Senate for at least two years, and Mitch McConnell has already made clear that he’s going to grind President Obama’s judicial and executive nominees to a halt.
Republicans controlling the Senate will mean that fewer of President Obama’s nominees will be confirmed, and that those who do win confirmation will be more conservative than the judges appointed in the last six years. This will impact environmental law, civil liberties, reproductive rights, gun laws, and voting rights for years—maybe decades—to come.
But here’s the thing: Democrats still have the majority right now and they can confirm a slew of Obama’s nominees in a lame duck session. Click here to sign the petition urging them to do so.
There are currently 64 court vacancies. Over the next two years, there will likely be another 30 or so vacancies. These are lifetime appointments.
Confirming the president’s judicial nominees could be Harry Reid and Senate Democrats’ lasting legacy—and it will shape jurisprudence for decades to come.
Please click and sign the petition to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid asking him to confirm all of President Obama’s judicial nominees right now, before it’s too late.
Keep fighting,
