The deadline to get covered this year under the Affordable Care Act is March 31.
This is one of the
final, really big steps in the implementation of this historic law, so it’s
worth remembering why we fought for it in the first place.
The ACA expands access to coverage to tens of millions of people who didn’t
have it before, and it does so while slowing the growth of health care costs.
It outlaws insurance companies from excluding pre-existing conditions, it saves
young people money by letting them stay on their parents’ insurance, and it has
led to transparency about medical costs like we haven’t seen before.
