SHERMAN AWARDED TEXAS HISTORICAL MARKER FOR 1930 SHERMAN RIOT!
SHERMAN, TEXAS
Late this afternoon, 2 Feb 2022, the Committee sponsoring the Historical Marker for the Sherman Riot of 1930 was informed the quarterly meeting of the state of Texas Historical Commission had selected our proposal as one of the 15 selected “Undertold Markers” for 2021. (Complete Listing is below). This means the Grayson County Historical Commission will be receiving an official 24″ x 42″ Texas Historical Marker paid for through state’s funds.
Attached are documents that provide a timeline of the year and 1/2 saga of Ms. Melissa Thiel to gain approval at three different required levels (the Grayson County Historical Commission, the Grayson County Judge and Commissioners Court, as well as the Texas Historical Commission) and background of the Texas Historical Marker Program. Ms Thiel and Mr Kurt Cichowski are available for any follow up-on media requests as desired per earlier Media Advisory.
