At the beginning of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Remembrance Weekend, Covenant Presbyterian Church is hosting Dr. Walter Buenger, Chief Historian of the Texas State Historical Association and Summerlee Foundation Professor of Texas History at the University of Texas at Austin, for an early Friday evening presentation entitled, “On the Homefront: The Texas Civil Rights Movement, 1920-1980.” One topic of exploration is the dual track efforts for civil rights, voting rights, access to educational institutions, etc., with both African-American and Hispanic-American constituencies and communities. A question and response time will follow. All are welcome.
