A Note from Wendy Davis: What we can and can’t do

“Gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis
is within single digits of her Republican opponent
in the Texas race for governor.” – MSNBC, 3/18/14

Dear Texans,

We’ve heard it before — from those in power in Austin, from special interest groups, and from pundits on the other side: Wendy Davis can’t win in Texas.

I have never liked that word: can’t. I don’t believe in a Texas that tells anyone they “can’t” do something. We’re fighting together in this campaign for a Texas where every woman and man, son and daughter, has the opportunity to succeed.

And the truth is, we absolutely can win this race. And if the special interests can’t see that, all they have to do is look at our recent surge in the polls.

We’ve got a big goal for the first month of this general election — $300,000 by March 31st. We have to raise about $15,000 a day from now until March 31st to reach that goal. So let’s make this a $15,000 day — give $5 or more right now.

Thousands of volunteers have given their time from El Paso to McAllen to Longview. Over 100,000 people have already contributed to help out. And of course, all of you — my great online supporters — have signed petitions, given a few dollars, and helped us build this grassroots network.

We’ve worked hard to build up our momentum — and all of that hard work is paying off. Polls now show us within single digits.

Now, with the polls tightening, special interest groups and super PACs will probably double- and triple-down on their attacks. But they can’t buy this election for Greg Abbott. And that’s one “can’t” you can believe in.

We’re going to make this a $15,000 day — because that’s what we need to stay on track to hit $300,000 by March 31st. Contribute $5 or more right now.

Thank you for sticking with me.

Wendy
