Dear Fellow Democrats:
As many of you know, I am making a last-minute race for the Fifth District Court of Appeals as a result of the unanticipated resignation of one of the court’s 13 Republican justices. I do not have to give up my seat on the Dallas district bench to run. This race encompasses the six counties of Dallas, Collin, Hunt, Grayson, Rockwall and Kaufman. We have not had a Democrat on this important court in some 20 years. This is a race that can and must be won, and I intend to win it.
Because of the short time since my candidacy, there are many Democrats who are not aware that there is a contest for this office. I am asking for your help in several respects. First, get the word out. Talk to, e-mail, Facebook and Tweet your friends and contacts and share my campaign’s contact information with them, which you will find below. Also, send me the contact information for Democrats in your area who you believe would be willing to help.
Next, let me know you are willing to help Tell me what you need. We have yard signs available, and push cards and door-hangers are rolling off the presses as I write. Although my schedule is nightmarish at this point, tell me where I should be in your counties. If you can help with press or need any graphics, let me know. A press release and graphic is attached for your information.
We have been very successful in our fundraising efforts to date, and we plan to do direct mail in the district. If there is money left, we will also do some targeted media.
