Friends,
Just last week, CNBC and National Geographic published articles reinforcing the urgency to eliminate freshwater usage for hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”). Both articles cite a study recently released by the World Resources Institute that found that close to 40% of shale gas plays globally are in areas with limited water resources. In 3 Eagle Ford Shale counties, for example, the freshwater demand for fracking will surpass the total volume of water used for all other purposes by 2020!
My Water Conservation Plan will ensure that our state invests in more water-friendly fracking technologies, incentivize operators to be better stewards of our precious water resources and empower local groundwater conservation districts to monitor water availability and prevent contamination. I’m the only candidate in this race with legislative, state appropriations and rulemaking experience. I know how to get a plan like this funded, enacted and implemented.
But, in order to eliminate freshwater usage for fracking by 2020, we need to elect a #PublicAdvocate to the Railroad Commission this November!
Thanks for all that you do,
