An introduction to some of the major candidates

Democrat for Texas Governor, State Senator Wendy Davis
Wendy-group

Senator Wendy Davis is the standard bearer for women’s rights, equal opportunity, protection of the public, safe guarding our environment, while maintaining and improving upon the business friendly climate that makes Texas so very special.

Democrat for US Senator, David Alameel
David-Alameel

David Alameel believes in the American Dream because he has lived it himself. He came to America when he was just twenty years old leaving behind his large Lebanese Christian family. David pumped gas and worked in the fields to help his family. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, then worked his way through college and received a Dental degree from the University of Texas. Later he moved to Dallas and founded a network of dental clinics that grew into a multi-million dollar enterprise. In recent years he sold that business and has become a highly successful investor and an expert in financial markets. He is a strong critic of Wall Street and says we must reform current policies “that subsidize big banks and corporations and hurt the middle class.”

Democrat for Texas Attorney General, Sam Houston
Sam-Houston

Sam Houston is vying to be the next Attorney General, running against State Senator Ken Paxton (R-McKinney). Sam is a practicing attorney from Houston who has promised to end many of the  lawsuits the State of Texas has filed against the US Government  by the current Texas Attorney General, Greg Abbott. Sam believes Texans have a right to know exactly where hazardous chemical are stored. Sam has promised to reverse the current AG’s letter ruling on the release of the locations of dangerous chemicals, putting the safety of our families and children first.

Sam Houston will bring common sense values back to the office of the Texas Attorney General.

Democrat for Texas Land Commissioner, John Cook
John-Cook_Land-Commissioner

John Cook is the former mayor of Texas’ 6th largest city- El Paso-  and he is a Vietnam Veteran. John is running against political newcomer,  Jeb Bush- who is banking on his popular name and deep pockets funded by the oil and gas industry to be the Texas Land Commissioner. The Texas Land Commissioner is  an important position because it is the Land Commissioner who is responsible  for collecting royalties on oil and gas and other Texas minerals- money that goes into the general education fund. John Cook will restore integrity and accountability to the Texas Land Commissioner’s office and has no ties to the oil and has industry over which he will hold regulatory authority.

John Cook, the right man for the right job as Texas Land Commissioner.

Democrat for Texas Comptroller, Mike Collier
Mike-Collier

Mike Collier is a former Plano resident, who now lives in Houston and is running to be the Texas Comptroller. Mike’s opponent is a former State Senator Glenn Hegar, who voted to cut funding for public education – costing 11,000  Texas jobs –  after the current Comptroller, Republican Susan Combs, produced a stunningly inaccurate revenue forecast. Mike is the only candidate in this race with the financial and accounting back ground- and business experience needed for this important position in Texas government.

Mike Collier has the finance background and business experience his opponent lacks.
