Perry worries about immigrants, forgets Texans without Health Insurance.
Governor Perry blasts Congress for not funding the immigrant effort, but turns down Medicaid for one million Texans.
Rick Perry complained that Congress was preparing to take a long summer break despite not approving $659 million for Emergency Border Assistance. As usual, Governor Perry only asks Washington for money when it serves his political purposes, not the people of Texas. He hypocritically whines about not getting $659 million to keep children out of Texas because he is running for President. But he blocks $90 billion for Medicaid Assistance to hardworking Texans that comes from their own tax dollars?
The Emergency Border Assistance Bill proposed by Congressional Republicans has created divisions within the GOP. Tea Party Republicans are not fully supporting the legislation. The bill is unlikely to pass in the United States Senate.
I am a strong supporter of a permanent solution to the border crisis. I believe in passing comprehensive immigration reform and real border security. John Cornyn failed to pass the GOP’s own border bill.
I am an immigrant. I came to America when I was just twenty years old and with only $120 in my pocket. I worked in gas stations and as a farm worker picking strawberries in the fields. I served in our military and used my GI bill to go to college, which helped me become a successful businessman. I learned that with hard work, determination, and a good education, I could achieve whatever I wanted. I believe in the American Dream, and as your Senator, I will fight to make Washington stop working for Wall Street and start working for the American People.
