Steve Brown for Railroad Commissioner

A letter from Steve Brown:

Friends,

This past week, I sat at a kitchen table across from landowners from Nordheim, TX who are protesting the permitting of a disposal pit next to their homes.  These families have owned land there for over 100 years. They’ve reared children, grown hay and raised livestock. The Texas Railroad Commission is considering the approval of a 200 acre oil field waste disposal site that will irreparably harm these families- their health, quality of life and property values.

I also met a young man named Paul there who recently built a beautiful white-rock home on his family’s 42-acre property.  He fears that the odors from this open-air pit, increased truck traffic and noise would create a dangerous and unhealthy nuisance for his family.

It shouldn’t be too much to ask that the Railroad Commission (RRC) factor in the proximity of homes and schools when considering permits for oil and gas waste disposal pits.  It shouldn’t be too much to ask that the voices of Nordheim’s landowners are heard and influence the permitting process.

We have to forge a better way to protect these families while disposing waste from our oil and gas boom. Paul and the others deserve better…they need a #PublicAdvocate at the RRC.

Will you pitch in $5, $10 or $25 today to help get our message out to Texas voters and win this race?

Thanks for all that you do,
Steve
